APPLICATIONS

DOVE's rugged and highly efficient furnaces are designed for smelting and melting such metals as gold, platinum, silver, aluminum, brass, silver and gold. These furnaces combine fast smelting and melting with simple, quiet operation. The furnaces are made of heavy gauge steel. The furnace linings (crucibles) are produced from the highest quality super-duty hard-burned firebrick then bound with over 2" of high temperature insulation to reduce heat loss and provide comfortable working conditions. Controls, blower and safety equipment are contained in an attractive, adjustable metal console, protected from dust and shop hazards. Console is especially sound-proofed for quiet operation.

Smelting is a method of purifying metals by melting and separating the pure metal such as gold from impurities. Smelting extracts gold from its ore. Smelting involves heating the gold with a chemical substance called flux. The flux bonds with the contaminants and then floats them on the top of the melted gold. The gold is then cooled and allowed to harden into molds. The flux-contaminant mixture (slag) is hauled away as a solid waste.
